 When using springs, the force applied varies depending on whether they are connected in series or in parallel.

As the name suggests, series connection is
a method of connecting multiple springs like a single wire.



In parallel connection, the
same springs are arranged in parallel and connected without being connected like a series connection.



Difference between Series and Parallel
Connecting the same springs in series halves the overall spring constant. As a result, when pulling the springs in series, it is possible to pull with half the force . This produces the same effect as when the wire diameter of the spring is made thinner, making it easier to extend the spring.

On the other hand, in parallel connection, the overall spring constant is doubled, contrary to series connection. For this reason, when pulling parallel springs, the force must be doubled to extend the springs. This produces the same effect as when the wire diameter of the spring is thickened, making it difficult to extend the spring.
