WINDING DIRECTION OF SPRING

Spring products are generally manufactured with a right-handed winding. However, there are cases where left-handed springs are produced for overseas products and custom-made products.

It may be difficult to tell from the front, but if you look at the right-handed and left-handed compression coil springs from above, you can easily see them.

The spring on the right side of the diagram above has its wire wound clockwise, while the spring on the left side has its wire wound counterclockwise.

In this way, a "right -handed" spring is wound clockwise from the start (tip), and a "left-handed" spring is wound counterclockwise from the start (tip). increase.

The question is why do springs have a winding direction? When using a spring, right-handed winding is not used when the screw is inserted from above. The reason is that there are right-handed and left-handed screws for fitting.

When a right-handed screw is fitted with a right-handed spring, the screw is tightened clockwise, and the spring is also tightened at the same time. , the force is applied to the outside, the force is dispersed, and the load is less likely to occur. In addition, if the force of the spring is applied to the outside, the shape may change.

Therefore, by using a left-handed spring for a right-handed screw, as shown in the figure above, the force is evenly distributed to the left and right, and the shape change is low and can be used for a long time.
